Can anyone else actually pull off Tony Montana like Al Pacino?

Get ready to say hello to your little friend all over again. What’s often touted as the original (non Godfather) gangster movie is getting a remake, and we’re a little on the fence about it.

Scarface, which put Al Pacino and his aforementioned “little friend” on the map back in 1983, could be returning to the big screens with a whole new cast, setting, writers and more. Universal has officially confirmed Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton) to pen an updated script with the intent to move forward on the film.

This wouldn’t be the first remake the production company has commissioned the writer for either. He’s currently working on a new script for the upcoming remakes of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds from producer Michael Bay.

So far it’s too early to tell if 32 years is enough time for a film to pass before remaking it. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news, the new version will still tell the tale of an immigrant coming to America in hopes of making his dreams come true. The difference? This tale will be told from Los Angeles and not Miami, where the original takes place.

There’s also no word on whether the main character will still be named Tony Montana.

There are many hurdles before Scarface 2.0 actually goes ahead with filming, but it looks like the studio is pretty serious about making it happen.

Here’s hoping for a Pacino cameo then, at least. No one blew that line out of the water as well as he did.
